About me

I like figuring out what is really going on.

Whether it is a person, a business or an organisation, I have always been drawn to understanding problems, finding patterns and working out what needs to change.

My story

I did not start with a clear plan.

Like a lot of people, I followed a fairly normal path. Study, get a job, build a career.

But there came a point when I realised I did not want to spend the rest of my life simply counting down to weekends.

I wanted to understand what I was actually trying to do with my life. That started a much bigger journey.

  • I studied coaching and personal development.
  • I started businesses.
  • I learned about strategy, sales, marketing, leadership and technology.
  • I made mistakes.
  • I changed direction more than once.

And over time, I became increasingly interested in one question:

Why do some people and organisations move forward while others stay stuck?

The framework

The framework started with me.

During that period, I came across Robert Dilts’ Logical Levels while studying NLP.

The model helped me look at change differently. Instead of only asking what goal I wanted, I started looking at purpose, identity, values, skills, behaviour and environment.

I used the model on myself first. Over time, I adapted it, added tools and exercises and developed it into what I now call The 7 Levels of Development.

It became a practical way of answering:

  • Where am I now?
  • Where am I trying to go?
  • What is getting in the way?
  • What needs to change?

Business

Then came business.

My professional work has taken me through business development, sales, marketing, websites, CRM, automation and AI.

I founded and built businesses, worked with clients and spent years trying to solve practical problems.

That experience changed how I think about development. Good ideas are not enough. Something eventually has to work in the real world.

That is why I am interested in both people and systems. Sometimes the person needs to develop. Sometimes the system around them needs to change. Often it is both.

Training & community

Teaching has always been part of it.

Alongside business, I have delivered personal development, communication and training workshops with professionals, university students and community organisations.

One of the larger programmes was a weekend development retreat with around 60 professionals. I have also delivered workshops through Cheadle Mosque, University of Manchester ISOC and Leeds University ISOC.

A GP who experienced the work later used elements of the approach in community work in Kenya.

I enjoy helping people understand ideas. But I am much more interested in what happens after the workshop. Did anything actually change?

Today

Today, these areas have come together.

My work now sits across three connected areas:

People. Leaders. Organisations.

I help people understand themselves and develop. I help leaders become more capable of dealing with people, decisions and responsibility. And I help organisations improve the strategy, people, systems and technology underneath how they work.

Different problems. But often the same basic process:

  • Understand what is happening.
  • Work out what needs to change.
  • Develop what is missing.
  • Then make it happen.
How I see my role

Strategist. Educator. Problem-solver.

Those are probably the three words that describe how I work best.

I like understanding complicated situations and making them clearer. I like building frameworks that help people think. And I like teaching ideas in a way that people can actually use.

I do not have all the answers. But I am good at asking the questions that help us find them.

“I do not have all the answers. But I am good at asking the questions that help us find them.”

Looking ahead

What I am building now

I am continuing to develop my work around people, leadership and organisations.

That includes:

  • The 7 Levels of Development
  • personal and leadership development programmes
  • work with community organisations
  • Kaybox and organisational strategy
  • AI and digital systems
  • practical education and training

The common thread is development. Helping people and organisations become more capable than they are today.
